Tree Branch Wreath

IMG_3535

Materials:

Depending on what you have laying around your house, this wreath could essentially be free. But in the event you aren’t a hoarder like me, you may need the following:

green/yellow felt

hot glue gun and glue sticks

tree branches

scissors

moss/green things

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step One:

Gather a bunch of fallen tree branches from your yard. (Include curious cats…)

Step Two:

Make a strong cup of coffee and find a Matlock marathon on tv to watch.

Step Three:

Plug in the hot glue gun and start breaking branches to the length you want. Mine turned out roughly 8”x10”…could be bigger…however, I’d probably wrap the corners with some hemp to reinforce a large wreath. These are really cute small also, as you’ll see in a minute.

I started with 4 sticks…and glued the spots where the sticks naturally rested on the other branches. I created about 4 layers of sticks stacked on top of each other, so about twenty sticks total.

Step Four:

Gather felt and random green things you have.

To make rosettes:

Cut varying sizes of circles from the felt and spiral cut from the outside to the center.

Use hot glue to tack the felt together…start in the center and curl around like a flower.

Step Five:

Attach rosettes with hot glue into the corners of your tree branch wreath.

Leftover wreaths….I had a whole pile of great branches left over and I couldn’t help myself, so I started making mini-wreaths.

I have had these little green plastic succulent looking plants for awhile and I finally found a good use for them.

Luckily, I have a wonderful wood working husband who cuts these little gems for me. I started hot gluing these wooden discs to the mini-tree branch wreaths and I love the way these turned out. I’m thinking wedding centerpieces with votive candles! Or, these would be good for a natural picture frame….or, you could purchase a very simple flat wooden picture frame and use that ready made frame to hot glue these little wooden discs to. Lots of amazing things to be done with wooden discs and tree branches.

Sarah's Wedding (Favor Table)

So my best friend got married elopement style but more like private wedding style in FL and she's having a big reception in a couple of weeks. She needed a sign for her favors, which will be 'moonpies' with a cute little label that looks like chalk on a chalkboard. All the rage right now, I know.

So naturally she asked her painting major best bud to help out.

I used a Pinterest recipe to make my own chalkboard paint. I don't know how it would hold up with actual chalk, but the texture is amazing! All you need is paint in whatever color you want and Dry Non Sanded Grout. The lady who's blog I looked at measured all her ingredients...but we all know I don't measure stuff...so I just gently dumped some into my paint and stirred until it looked like the right consistency.

The lettering might be a little wanky..but in person it's really cute. I started with the main sign...and then decided I needed to make more!

So now they will have a full table of cute little signs and information for their guests about the weddin'.

And naturally, when I start something I like and have the supplies out, I usually look around my house and try to figure out what I can abduct to be my craft slave .....

First it was the dog food container...which now looks fancy and cute.

And then I saw a piece of really nice thick cardboard laying around....so I painted it and freehanded this welcome sign. Poked two holes with an awl, tied some ribbon and voila...our front door looks really nice!

Also, multi-seasonal too!

Life is better with paint. And non sanded grout.

Fun Finds...

So I would have posted these fun little finds a week ago, but our internet at home has been down for over a week now....(we hate you Comcast!) ...

So, I have this new system that is amazing and everyone should try it. Instead of purchasing things I really want, I just take a picture and post it on my blog. So, in some way I 'have' the item...but I didn't have to pay for it...and that is satisfying, somehow?  It's working and I'm saving money...so yay.
I feel like we could make these but this little birds nest was only $3 at Target!

Also another $3 Target item...

Cute coasters at JoAnn's...

And some more JoAnn's paper flowers...we could make these.

Love these frames from tjmaxx....I'm thinking wedding....or walls?

Thank you cards.
