We've been through a lot in the past couple of weeks with our youngest dog, Shelby. She had a ruptured disc in her spine. She's was paralyzed from the ruptured disc compressing her spinal cord. She had the emergency surgery May 18. The surgeon gave us a promising 98% recovery rate which is great news. The bad news is that she has Intervertebral Disc Disease and has a 5-20% chance of another ruptured disc.
So here is Shelby...she's a Papillion/Sheltie mix and apparently this is a common back disorder with her breed type. Poor little thing.
She's really getting better everyday. She has even started walking on her back legs again! We have to use a little sling to support her, but she's making so much progress!
